Join us for small-group beekeeping classes, led by Bewitched Acres!

Find bees fascinating and want to learn more about them? Been keeping bees for a while but aren’t getting the results you want? Join us for a small group, hands-on lessons led by our beekeeper. Each class will be limited to five participants. Pick the topics you are interested in or sign up for all of the classes. No prior experience in beekeeping is required.

This series is designed for people above 18 years old. Participants will be provided with beekeeper suits to wear during the program. When registering, please select your size so we can provide the appropriate suit for you. (Note: we recommend sizing up for an easier fit).

All attendees will be required to sign a waiver before participating in the program.

Class descriptions:

Frame Reading 101 – Bees are fascinating little creatures, and sometimes they sure don’t follow the rules! In this class, you will get hands-on with the bees and see what they are up to. With the help of our beekeeper, you will understand what you are seeing, why the bees are doing what they’re doing, and what this means for the cluster.

Frame Reading 102 – Things don’t always go as planned! In this class, you will help our beekeeper determine how to interpret the overall health of the cluster. You will learn to identify if they are queen right, if they think she’s doing a good job, and what this means for the cluster.

Fall 101 – Fall weather is notoriously fickle. In this class, you will learn how to manage the changing needs of the cluster for fall, as dictated by the weather. You will be able to identify what your bees’ food stores are like, if they have enough space, and how to troubleshoot any issues.

Winter 101 – Winter is right around the corner! The bees have been preparing for winter for a while now. With the help of our beekeeper, you will learn how the bees have prepared, what they need to survive the winter, and how we can set them up for their best chance of survival.

Winter 102 – It’s crunch time! There isn’t much time left in the beekeeping season, and now every decision counts. In this class, you will see how the season’s decisions prepared us for winter and what to do if their food stores are low, or the bee population is down.
