Winter Solstice Hike – CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN

Loading Events

UPDATE: Due to the predicted inclement weather of heavy rain, we sadly have decided to cancel the Winter
Solstice Hike and Snowshoe event. If you’re as disappointed as we are, have no worries, as Moultonborough Recreation Department and Castle in the Clouds have a Winter Starlight Hike/Snowshoe planned for Saturday, January 19, 2019. Same time, same place. Save the date, and please join us! More details coming soon!

Castle in the Clouds has teamed up with the Moultonborough Recreation Department for an event not to be missed!

Bring your family and friends to celebrate the first day of winter by enjoying a nighttime stroll through the woods on the Shannon Pond Trail at Castle in the Clouds! This hike is self-guided so you can walk at your leisure and even do the trail more than once if you like. The trail will be marked with lighted mason jars but it is recommended that you bring headlamps or flashlights to help you find your way. Reservations are not required.

Prepare for the Trail

The proposed hiking trail is easy, family friendly and less than a mile.  Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear warm, winter hiking boots or if there is snow on the ground feel free to bring your snowshoes if you have them, for this fun adventure! Feel free to bring a flashlight or headlamp as it will be dark on the property.   This is a great way to get the family out for some good old fresh air!

Stay for Treats!

After the hike warm up by a fire pit and enjoy hot cocoa, and goodies, compliments of Castle in the Clouds and the Moultonborough Recreation Department. We are also planning on bringing a telescope to the field to get an up close and personal look at the moon and stars, feel free to bring your own if you’d like!

The event is put on in partnership with the Moultonborough Recreation Department.
