Tour the Castle and meet some of the Furniture Masters during your tour!

The Masters will be spread throughout the estate, sharing the details of their craft, answering questions, and explaining the designs and techniques used to make many of the Castle’s antique furnishings. This is an added experience for visitors and is included in with Castle admission.

Who are the Furniture Masters?

The Furniture Masters are studio furniture makers who use innovative methods and designs to create beautifully finished, and often times vividly detailed, wooden furniture. Each Master is a skilled artisan with extensive knowledge in the art of studio furniture making, and more than half of the current Furniture Masters team has received recent honors and awards for their unparalleled craftsmanship.

The Furniture Masters strive to perpetuate the art of studio furniture making by exhibiting their own work to the public to see, appreciate, and collect, so they may inspire and pass their knowledge onto future generations of furniture makers. They also pursue educational efforts through their continuing Prison Outreach Program, teaching prison members the art of studio furniture making. The 16 artisans that make up this team live and work throughout the Northeast, currently residing in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
