DESCRIPTION:UPDATE:  Thank you for your interest in Family Sledding Day at Castle in the Clouds. Unfortunately\, due to a lack of snow\, we will not be able to host Family Sledding Day this weekend\, and given the high temperatures in the forecast\, we have decided to cancel this event. If we get snow in the coming weeks\, we may be able to host a pop-up sledding event\, in which case\, we will be sure to update our website! \nCome sledding at Castle in the Clouds! We are inviting families to come to the Castle grounds to enjoy sledding on our property’s hills. Then visit the Winnipesaukee Room upstairs in the Carriage House\, where you will be able to enjoy some complimentary hot cocoa! \nPlease note that the date is tentative and dependent on snow conditions. By filling out the registration form\, you will receive email updates about the date. \nRegistration is encouraged but not required. Please bring your own sleds. Please note that you will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon arrival.

SUMMARY:Beginner's Watercolor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Update: This program was originally scheduled for Saturday\, March 23\, but was moved to Sunday\, March 24\, due to the predicted snowstorm. \nExplore the art of watercolor styles and techniques! This workshop will illuminate and provide inspiration for the fine art of watercolor (WC) painting. Participants will practice various WC techniques using professional WC media with Carole Shea\, an experienced watercolor artist/instructor. This informative workshop is held in the Winnipesaukee Room amid spectacular views of the lake and mountains. \nThis class is intended for adults. Space is limited to 12 people to give Carole an opportunity to interact with everyone. Pre-registration is required. All ticket sales are final; no refunds\, transfers to other days\, or exchanges. \nThis workshop includes: \n\nReview and discussion of the history and art of watercolors through slides and\noriginal artwork\, to recognize and enhance appreciation of their color\, transparency\nand beauty.\nPresentation of WC paint mediums\, from WC tubes\, to pans to WC pencils.\nReview of types of papers\, brushes\, and equipment for effective results with WC.\nAlso\, what gear to consider when working outside\, ‘en plein air’\, as opposed to inside.\nBreak for Light Refreshments\nAn instructor-led demonstration and participant’s hands-on experiments with a range\nof watercolor mediums and painting techniques. All supplies\, paint\, paper\, brushes\,\npalettes\, etc. will be provided. Participants can take home their technique samples\nalong with a WC palette of paint colors for future inspiration and exploration.
