MUCH HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED SINCE 2006: Carriage House Patio Rebuilt – begun Fall ’06, finished Spring ’07, cost $201,833 “Lucknow’s” Chimney #4 Repair – Fall ’06, cost $20,249 Chimneys #1, #2, #3 Repairs – Fall ’07, respective costs $8,033, $4,275, $9,714 Garage Roof Carriage House – begun Fall ’07, finished Spring ’08, cost $45,664 Basement Roof Repaired/Resealed Under Lawn – Fall ’07, cost $1,695 Walkway to Sunroom Repaired/Resealed – Spring ’08, cost $5,134 Library Alcove Roof/Bedroom Dormer – begun Spring ’08, finished Spring ’09, cost $146,166 Bedroom Lakeside Dormer – begun Fall ’09, finished Spring ’10, cost $93,882 Balcony Lakeside Second Floor – Spring ’10, cost $95,432 (upper timbers still need replacing) AND MUCH REMAINS TO BE DONE: Master Bathroom Dormer – work currently underway, estimated cost $122,000 Basement Windows/Doors & Masonry Repaired – scheduled Spring ’11, estimated cost $52,000 Lower Gate House - portion of extensive work to begin Summer ’11, estimated cost $477,800 New Electrical Service & Rewiring for “Lucknow” – electrical engineer now preparing estimate FUTURE WORK FOR WHICH NO ESTIMATES ARE AVAILABLE BEYOND THE $5,000,000 ROUGH ESTIMATE GIVEN IN THE HISTORIC STRUCTURES SURVEY PREPARED IN 2005 BY PRESERVATION ARCHITECTS BARBE/WHEELOCK OF PORTLAND MAINE: a partial list includes Basement Restoration, Interior Restoration, Grounds Restoration, Furniture Conservation. To date restoration work commissioned by the Castle Preservation Society has cost less than the Barbe/Wheelock estimates.
